Cookie policy
This page explains which cookies Betsio Casino places on your device, what they do, how long they stay active and how to manage your consent at any time, in line with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a site. It lets the site recognise you on your next visit, keep your session active, remember your preferences (language, currency, layout) and measure its audience. Cookies don't damage your device, can't read other files outside their own contents and never directly contain passwords. They sit at the heart of how almost every modern website works, including online banking, online shops and entertainment platforms like ours.
Why Betsio uses cookies
Without cookies it would be impossible to keep a session alive between two clicks: you'd have to log in on every page, your betslip would be wiped and our anti-fraud systems couldn't tell a genuine device apart from a bot. Cookies therefore help us secure your account, smooth your navigation, meet our regulatory duties (age checks, gambling limits) and measure how the site performs so we can improve it. A small subset is used for marketing, only with your explicit consent.
Essential cookies
These cookies are required for the site to work: authentication, betslip, language preferences, anti-CSRF tokens, load balancing. They don't need consent and can't be switched off without breaking the experience. Their duration is limited to the session or, at most, the period needed for the feature they support. They never carry marketing data and are never shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how you use the site (pages visited, time spent, paths, device type, screen resolution). They're used to improve the layout, fix broken pages and measure loading speed. They're only set with your consent and the data is aggregated, so it doesn't allow direct identification. We use analytics tools configured in privacy-friendly mode, with retention aligned to ICO recommendations (13 months maximum).
Marketing cookies
These cookies let us offer you content and ads tailored to your interests, on our site and on partner sites (social networks, ad networks). They require your explicit consent through the consent banner and can be withdrawn at any time via the footer link. You can use the whole of Betsio Casino without accepting these cookies: no gaming or payment feature depends on them.
Third-party cookies
Some of our partners (analytics, fraud prevention, payment processors, live-game providers) may set their own cookies for purposes they manage themselves. The full list is detailed in the consent banner and on request at privacy@bettsio.com. Each third party honours its own UK GDPR commitments and the list is refreshed every time the tech stack changes.
Cookie lifetime
Session cookies disappear as soon as you close your browser. Persistent cookies have a maximum lifetime of 13 months for analytics, 6 months for language or currency preferences and 12 months for marketing cookies. No cookie outlives those limits without us asking for renewed consent. When the period ends the cookie is deleted automatically and our servers treat your next request as a first visit.
Managing your consent
You can change your preferences at any time by deleting cookies from your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge all offer a dedicated interface) or by resetting the consent banner from the link in the footer of every screen. Refusing non-essential cookies has no impact on your access to the site, but some features (personalised recommendations, embedded third-party content) may behave differently or be unavailable.
Cookies on mobile devices
On smartphone and tablet, cookies work in exactly the same way as on a desktop. If you use private browsing mode, cookies are deleted when you close the window, which means you'll need to set your preferences again every visit. Our site is designed to work without a native app, so you don't have to manage operating-system advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID) in parallel.
How browsers handle cookies
Every modern browser gives you fine-grained control over cookies in its settings panel. In Chrome, go to Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data: you can block third-party cookies, clear cookies on close or block them site by site. In Firefox, Settings → Privacy & Security gives you a similar level of control, including a strict "Enhanced Tracking Protection" mode. Safari blocks cross-site cookies by default and offers an "Intelligent Tracking Prevention" mode that limits the lifespan of tracker cookies to seven days. Edge inherits Chromium's options and adds a "Strict" setting that blocks most trackers as standard. Whichever browser you use, you can also install dedicated extensions (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, Ghostery) that go further than the native controls.
Local storage and similar technologies
Alongside cookies, modern websites use other client-side technologies: localStorage and sessionStorage, IndexedDB, service workers, fingerprinting techniques. Our site uses localStorage to remember your interface preferences (dark mode, sidebar layout, accepted consent) and sessionStorage to maintain betslip state between two pages. These technologies are subject to the same consent rules as cookies when they are not strictly necessary. We do not use any browser fingerprinting technique for advertising purposes.
Children's data
Our service is reserved for adults aged 18 and over, and we never knowingly process the data of minors. Cookies set on our site are therefore intended exclusively for adults. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that a minor has nonetheless used our site on your device, delete the cookies from your browser and contact us at privacy@bettsio.com so we can carry out additional checks if necessary.
Updates to this policy
This cookie policy can be updated to reflect changes in the law, the technology used or the partner services. Any significant change is notified to you via the consent banner, which is automatically reset so that you can re-confirm your preferences in full knowledge of the facts. The date of the latest revision is shown at the bottom of the page.
Detailed list of cookies used
The technical list of every cookie used on the site, with name, supplier, purpose, type and duration, is published in full in the dedicated tab of the consent banner. The list is grouped by category (strictly necessary, functionality, analytics, marketing, social media) so you can give or refuse consent category by category, or even cookie by cookie. The same view is accessible at any time from the "Cookies" link in the footer of every page. We update the list every time we add, change or remove a supplier so that what you see actually matches what is stored on your device.
Why we don't use dark patterns
Our consent banner is designed to give equal visual weight to "Accept all" and "Reject all". Refusing non-essential cookies does not require navigating into a sub-menu, does not slow the page down and does not trigger repeat prompts at the next visit. We don't use pre-checked boxes for non-essential categories, we don't use guilt-tripping wording and we don't condition access to the site on accepting marketing cookies. These principles follow the recommendations of the European Data Protection Board and the ICO on the validity of consent: free, specific, informed, unambiguous, and as easy to withdraw as it was to give.
Sharing data collected via cookies
Data collected via cookies is processed for the specific purposes set out in this policy and is not sold to third parties. It can be shared, in a limited way, with our analytics, marketing and fraud prevention providers, on the basis of a binding agreement that imposes the same level of protection as our own. The full list of providers is in the consent banner. No data collected via cookies is used to build advertising profiles outside the strict context for which you have given consent.
Your rights
You have rights of access, rectification and objection regarding the data collected through cookies. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@bettsio.com. If a dispute can't be resolved you can refer it to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. Our privacy policy explains the full data-protection framework and complements this document.
